Compression settings

Formats are never changed silently. Unsupported browser encoders show an error.

A maximum size to attempt, not an exact-size guarantee.

Automatic uses 82% quality. Lower quality generally saves more bytes but can introduce artefacts. PNG ignores this setting.

Pixels. Images are never enlarged. Resizing changes image detail, including for PNG.

Files stay in this tab until you clear them or leave. Re-encoded JPG/WebP and resized images may lose metadata and change colour rendering. Lossless PNG keeps colour and orientation chunks; original fallbacks retain their metadata. Always check the downloaded image before sharing it.

How to use Bulk Image Compressor

  1. Select or drop JPG, PNG or WebP images into the tool. File content is checked before processing.
  2. Choose automatic optimisation or adjust quality, format and optional resizing.
  3. Press Compress images. Each file is processed in a background worker.
  4. Review the actual sizes, dimensions and comparison previews. Open the download to inspect full detail.
  5. Download each result or prepare a ZIP of completed images. Keep your originals until you are satisfied.

One set of settings, an organised queue

Select up to 20 images and apply the same quality, size bounds and target to the batch. Original formats are preserved by default. JPG/WebP use the quality setting while PNG uses lossless recompression. The compact queue prioritises per-image progress and file sizes; enable previews when you want to compare pictures.

Limits that keep the browser responsive

Only one image is processed at a time, using a background worker where supported. Each file is limited to 15 MB and 8 megapixels, and a batch is limited to 60 MB. You can cancel processing and queued images while retaining completed results. In compatibility mode, a native encoding operation may finish before cancellation takes effect. Remove files or clear the batch to release their downloadable resources.

Download and identify your results

Use individual download links or prepare a ZIP after at least two files complete. ZIP entries receive numeric prefixes to prevent name collisions. Failed or cancelled images are excluded. Images that did not become smaller are included as clearly named originals. The ZIP itself adds container overhead and does not recompress already-compressed pictures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does one invalid file stop the batch?

No. Each file is validated and processed separately. Errors appear beside the affected filename, and the remaining images continue.

Can I cancel a batch?

Yes. Cancel processing terminates the current worker and stops queued images. Native encoding in compatibility mode may finish before cancellation takes effect. Completed results remain downloadable.

Why is the ZIP larger than the images?

ZIP archives include entry headers and filenames. Already-compressed images are stored without another compression pass, so the archive can be slightly larger than the sum of its images.
