WEBP · Up to 20 images · 15 MB each · 60 MB per batch
Still images only. Maximum 8 megapixels and 8192px per side.
Your images are processed directly in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.
Files stay in this tab until you clear them or leave. Re-encoded JPG/WebP and resized images may lose metadata and change colour rendering. Lossless PNG keeps colour and orientation chunks; original fallbacks retain their metadata. Always check the downloaded image before sharing it.
How to use WebP Compressor
- Select or drop WebP images into the tool. File content is checked before processing.
- Choose automatic optimisation or adjust quality, format and optional resizing.
- Press Compress images. Each file is processed in a background worker.
- Review the actual sizes, dimensions and comparison previews. Open the download to inspect full detail.
- Download each result or prepare a ZIP of completed images. Keep your originals until you are satisfied.
Adjust WebP quality with a real encoder
This workflow uses your browser’s WebP encoder. Automatic optimisation selects 82% quality. Manual settings let you trade visual detail for smaller files. The quality control is lossy; this tool does not expose a lossless WebP encoder. If your browser cannot encode WebP, it reports an error instead of returning a PNG with a misleading extension.
Keep transparency while reducing size
WebP can carry transparent pixels alongside lossy colour data. This workflow preserves an alpha channel and does not flatten the background. Check edge detail in the downloaded output, particularly around logos and semi-transparent shadows. Resizing is optional and never enlarges the image.
Avoid repeated re-encoding
Repeated lossy saves can progressively reduce detail. Start from your best available source and keep a backup. A WebP that is already small may not benefit from re-encoding; the tool offers the original when a same-format result is larger or equal in size.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I compress an animated WebP?
No. The file validator rejects animated WebP to avoid silently turning it into a still image.
Is WebP output always available?
No. Encoding support depends on the browser. Unsupported WebP output produces a visible error; no other format is substituted.
Can I compress transparent WebP images?
Yes. Alpha is retained when encoding WebP. Review the result before using it in a design.
